The design
For this new vintage of the Elizabeth II Silver series, we wanted to honour the island of Niue by using a second symbol of the island: the Gecko. This choice is meaningful because this coin represents renewal, just like the gecko and its moult. This animal is also the Polynesian representation of self-development and adaptation.
The precision engraving and fine detailing make this one of the most elegant and precious creations. It meets the high-quality standards worthy of the rank of a queen. In the centre of the obverse side you see the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, whilst the vintage and face value of 1 New Zealand dollars are beautifully engraved around the edge. Once again, the engraving has been done with the highest level of precision to highlight each of the lizard's scales.
This creation is also a charming nod to the Pacific islands to which the island of Niue belongs. Located in the heart of the Pacific between Tonga, Samoa and Cook, the island is part of the Commonwealth, of which the queen is the head.
